Video of Zebra Sharks (Leopard Sharks) and Tawny Nurse Sharks
Please "like", share or comment on this video of carpet sharks on YouTube.
This video covers the 2 most common types of carpet shark in the Andaman Sea, zebra sharks (Stegostoma fasciatum) and tawny nurse sharks (Nebrius ferrugineus). Locally in Thailand and Burma, zebra sharks are more commonly known as "leopard sharks".
Zebra sharks are a common sight at Koh Tachai and Koh Bon, north of the Similan Islands in Thailand. The video also includes footage of them from Koh Bida Nok, near Phi Phi Island, and from Fan Forest Pinnacle in Myanmar's Mergui Archipelago.
Most of the footage of tawny nurse sharks comes from the Burma Banks, although there is also footage of a rare encounter with sleeping nurse sharks at Koh Bon Pinnacle.
The music is Prickly Shark by Erik Verkoyen.

The whale shark, Rhincodon typus, is the world's largest fish. Although huge, the whale shark is a gentle, placid fish. Here we encounter a female whale shark at Thailand's Richelieu Rock, north of the Similan Islands. We then meet a young whale shark at Burma's Mergui Archipelago.
Whale sharks are sought after for their fins which are used in shark fin soup in Chinese restaurants, or merely used to advertise the availability of shark fin soup. They are therefore vulnerable to fishing pressures and face an uncertain future unless the culture changes.
The music is Freefall Into The Blue by Mark Ellison.

Video of Requiem Sharks

Requiem sharks filmed whilst scuba diving in Burma, also known as Myanmar, at the Mergui Archipelago. First we encounter grey reef sharks (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos) in the canyon at Shark Cave, alternatively known as "Three Stooges", "Three Islets" or In "Through The Out Door". We then meet some energetic juvenile silvertip sharks (Carcharhinus albimarginatus) at the Burma Banks. And finally we find whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obesus) at Fan Forest Pinnacle, near Western Rocky Island, and at the famous Black Rock, both in the Mergui Archipelago.
Requiem sharks constitute the family Carcharhinidae in the order Carcharhiniformes. These sharks have sharp teeth, unlike the carpet sharks in the previous episode. Their fins are popular in the shark finning trade, for use in shark fin soup, and I have witnessed encounters with grey reef sharks, silvertip sharks and whitetip reef sharks declining in the years since I shot this video.
The music is Blood Wine by Condor e from the Velvet Night album.

Reef Life of the Andaman - Video & DVD
Although it covers the full range of marine life in Thailand and Burma, my DVD Reef Life of the Andaman features extensive footage of 6 shark species. The above 3 videos are all taken from it.
Gentle leopard sharks, also known as zebra sharks, are very common in the area and we get some super close-up footage of these gentle creatures.
We have grey reef sharks circling in the canyon at Myanmar's Shark Cave and whitetip reef sharks from Black Rock.
From the Burma Banks we get up close with nurse sharks and boysterous silvertip sharks.
Star of the show are impressive 8 metre whale sharks filmed at Thailand's Richelieu Rock. There is little to match the awe inspired by a fully grown whale shark and Reef Life of the Andaman contains beautiful sequences of the gentle giants.
